Ibeno I Dakkada MPCS Palm Project creates alternative source of income for Okpulum and Ikot Ewang Communities

Great Job done by IBENO DAKKADA MPCS. The management team had set out to actualize their vision of providing best quality palm oil at the lowest cost in the state. They took advantage of the opportunity created by the abundance of abandoned Oil palm estates on the island of Okpulum in Ibeno, negotiated with the communities, tamed the wild plants, harvest FFB, process Palm oil, and will be selling palm oil at N280 per liter. But most importantly their ability to revive the onl y oil processing mill that serves the 2 communities on the island, Ikot Ewang and Okpulum is very commendable. Before now the people of these communities depended solely on fishing as means to livelihood, but today the Dakkada MPCS has introduced another great source of Income. In other to kick start business in the various Co-operative, The State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel approved of N1million CBN interest free loan for the 31 Co-operative Societies. The Co-operative Societies have started productive activities in diverse sectors of the economy including Palm Oil production, crop cultivation, poultry, fish farming and trading.
