INSPECTION OF DAKKADA MULTI-PURPOSE COOPERATIVE SOCIETIES BUSINESSES ACROSS THE STATE COMMENCES TODAY

The special assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Marketing and Brand management, Mr Ime Uwah today led a team comprising officials from the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of finance, Akwa Ibom Micro –Credit Services and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to flag off an inspection tour of the Local Government chapters of the Dakkada Multipurpose Cooperative society. The tour which is in preparation for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Dakkada MPCS slated for September this year, will last for five days and will take the team across the 31 Local government chapters of the Dakkada MPCS.

The day – one of the tour saw the team visiting Ika, Abak and Oruk Anam Local government chapters of the Dakkada multipurpose cooperative society. At each local government chapters, the chapter presidents of the cooperative society took turns to show the team round their project sites.


At Ika, the chapter president of the cooperative said the chapter has recorded successes with their poultry project and had gone ahead to lease about 6 hectares of land which they currently used for cassava cultivation.

He listed challenges of the chapter of the MPCS to include access to farm inputs and more capital in form of loans to enable them carry out individual projects.
The Abak and Oruk Anam chapters of the Dakkada multipurpose cooperative societies likewise took turns to show the team round the projects which included cassava farms, fish ponds, Palm oil processing and storage facilities, vegetable gardens as well as metal fabrication plants.

Speaking at the various Local governments, the Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Marketing and Brand management who also doubles as the project supervisor for the Dakkada MPCS, Mr Ime Uwah commended the members of the Dakkada MPCS for their hard work, tenacity and drive. He said the tour was to ascertain the true state of affairs at the local government chapters of the MPCS and seek ways of helping the MPCS to be more effective and productive.





Uwah commended the state governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for initiating the Dakkada Multipurpose cooperative society, stating that no less than a thousand lives have been touched by the initiative. The tour continues tomorrow.
